Technical Writer/Editor

Job Description:
Serves as the lead IPPS-A Technical Editor responsible for delivering accurate and timely reports, manuals, briefings, instruction books, and related technical and administrative publications. Under the direction of the IPPS-A Data Manager, manages overlapping Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables and conducts quality assessment of content to ensure successful first time deliveries. Ensures CDRLs delivered in accordance with contract schedules as planned in the baseline. Performs CDRL development planning and interfaces across IPPS-A functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Edits technical and administrative documents by reviewing content for completeness, accuracy and correctness of language use and revises documents to meet Army Gold Standard compliant formats
  • Plans for delivering final contract deliverables as a 100% product without errors in either content or format
  • Confers with senior leadership, team leads, and other staff to formulate final deliverable schedules with sufficient time for review and quality assessment
  • Drafts concise and accurate meeting minutes for formal publication and delivery
  • Prioritizes, tracks, handles, and maintains records of deliverables to ensure successful first-time delivery, and as necessary, final deliver with corrections
  • Participates in group document reviews to ensure understanding of complex document content to ensure effective editing
  • Ensures CDRLs apply to the NIPRNet and SIPRNet, as applicable, with the required security protection/control for the data, contract documents, collaboration meetings minutes and processes
  • Uploads deliverables to a dedicated SharePoint site provided by the Government
  • Ensures formal configuration control established for contract deliverables
  • Provides deliverables in electronic format to the COR
  • Ensures documentation follows applicable DoD 5000, DoDD 8000.1, DoDI 8120.2, DoD DTM 11-009, AR-25, AR-70 and AR-73 series regulations and associated pamphlets and other applicable regulations and policy
  • Collects and delivers background material or other material developed by the IPPS-A Team in the course of developing the original deliverable
  • Incorporates CDRL performance as part of the contract Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan (QASP)
  • Delivers CDRLs in accordance with the contract Performance Work Statement

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7-9 years of related experience
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner and success working in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
  • Must be able to attain Secret clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing development and delivery of multiple overlapping Contract deliverables
  • Knowledge of enterprise-level applications (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP)
  • Experience in working with software development and delivery programs with associated documentation
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and formal configuration control processes for document control
  • Knowledge of CMMI Level 3 configuration control processes
